HOMO FERRATUS - by makadi3000

I'm a designer currently living and working in Zurich, right in the middle of Europe. This blog is about my original toy work and hobby interests. I dedicate it to Japanese artist Kow Yokoyama, creator of the Maschinen Krieger universe, which has always been a teacher and source of inspiration to me, as he is for many contemporary concept artists and illustrators of the 21st century.

Thanks for looking! - Adi D'Agostino aka makadi3000

S.A.F.S. REYNARD

Another model I did some time ago is the S.A.F.S. REYNARD 1/16 diorama. One of my first attempt with base material and sculpting putty: The pilot cap and other mods on the figures are customized...

I addet elbow pads and armor plates to the 120mm Verlinden figure.

BERTIE by Ashley Wood

Ashley Wood's BERTIE from the World Ware Robot (WWR) series is now availlable as a limited vinyl toy: 14" tall, 43 points of articulation, fabric ammo-pouches, extra weapons and accessories, and a terrific paintjob makes a top notch collectible out of it!

BERTIE can be purchased at Bambaland and comes in two varaints. Both the "Dirty Deeds" and "Desert Rat" looks absolutely amazing! Because I couldn't decide I just bought one of each... and was lucky enough to get two special signed copies with giclee mini print limited to 50 of each colorways. Cool! :)

To my surprise I found a BERTIE interpretation by DER ZWEITE PLAN , a japanese artist which is well known for his excellent Maschinen Krieger paintings.

DORVACK (Kobayashi Version)

This post is about two non Ma.K. models I did a few years back. They are from another sci-fi series from the 80's called Dorvack - and it MUST be mentioned at least once when talking about armored suits.
Makoto Kobayashi, a well known artist and mecha designer (and a good friend of Kow Yokoyama by the way) reworked Gunze's injection kit series for promotional purposes and created the Hyper Document.
Straight from the box the kits are rather simple and toyish, but it's Kobayasi's unique style that make the suits look sooo impressive!

The first model is the redesign of the DUNC... the HYPER DU
NC!

The second one is inspired by Kobayashi's HALK with R-UTH.07 UNIT

CERBERUS (15)

Heya!!! I can hardly wait to see this baby finished, so I'm already in the middle of the painting process: Wires and springs has been added... and also a final coat of off-white paint. Tomorrow I check my spare decals bin for some matching numbers. After that Cerb and I are ready for weathering! Muwahahahaha :)

HEAVY WEATHERING

On my trip to Cuba I found another interesting subject I want to share: Some old steam locomotives were parked close to the National Capitol in Havana. The attendant from the park area told me they wanted to restore them for a museum. I'm not sure if they can be restored at this point, but it's definitely worth a look for a heavy weathering study! Enjoy ;)

CERBERUS (14)

Here we go, all parts are ready to be put in place after painting.
Below another picture of the head: Test fitting the armor plate.

On the bottom you can see an extra vessel which I added in order to fill out the space under the main tank... next step: The Wiring!
