Sketch from 'Robot Battle V' book 1986©Kow Yokoyama
Another of Kow's series is Robot Battle V. The story is set in the far universe, where the human race is threatened by robots. A comic book was published in 1986 which shows numerous brilliant manned and unmanned robot designs. The design is more organic then Ma.K. and some of them have been produced as a kit, like MEDUSA, MK44 and the LANCELOT. Kow developed the LANCELOT by using a AT-ST scout walker (Star Wars) as donor kit. The pilot is supposed to sit in the upper body part. The armament consists of a gripper arm and a laser canon which can be used as a lance during close combat, and also explains the derivation of its name.
I forgot to take some decent work-in-progress pics... anyway here is what I got so far. I addet extra parts, bolts and wires to improve the details of the kit. Due to the top-heavy design, the most challenging part was to set the legs and find a well-balanced pose. Next step is weatherin, adding some chip and maybe decals...
Final pictures soon!
